September 2007
Dear Irish Terrier Friends,
We’ve been having some hitches putting up changes on the website and I have been away which doesn’t help either. Anyway, we’re all back in place so do look out for the new pages coming up soon.
I’ve been ‘doing’ the family dogs all through August….nothing new about that. My two Zuli and Beegie plus granddaughter Imogen’s Tessie had a great trip (mentioned in the last letter) up the east coast to Lindisfarne.
I swear they chatted up everyone from London to Lindisfarne and back. At Lincoln cathedral two people rushed up saying “how marvellous - Irish Terriers. We’ve just bought a puppy from Susan Seabridge she lives down the road from here”.
It amazes me the pleasure they seem to give everyone – what is it about Irish Terriers? They’re born networkers. When we returned to the same hotel in Lincoln on the way home the entire staff turned out to welcome “the three musketeers”.
Incidentally the tourist centres up and down the country are excellent at producing lists of dog friendly watering holes.
We’ve done two photo shoots for the 2008 calendar with Zu, Beegie, Tessie and a dear little bitch called Spicy who belongs to Caterina and Stephanie. Beegie who ‘appeared’ at both shoots was very smitten with the handsome young photographer, Andrew. She took over the second shoot posing on the garden table and perching on the rockery.
As Angela Goddard remarked “I’m ready for my close up Mr DeMille”. We really did laugh.
Thank you for some lovely pictures for the calendar. We’re thrilled with it. It is beautiful and will be on sale for £10.50 plus P&P at the end of October. You can order it on the website or ring me here on 020 7624 3580.
A real sadness has been the death of Annie Gabb, a dear friend, and someone who loved and understood Irish Terriers. She had such a brave heart and generous spirit and wonderful sense of humour in spite of a life long battle with cystic fibrosis. She and Anthony adored their dogs Shona and Minnie who gave her so much joy. She managed Crufts two years ago and the Fun Day. “I made it at last” she said beaming with pleasure. It’s sometimes too easy to forget one’s own good fortune. What an example to us all.
Beegie and I are already limbering for this year’s Fun Day. She and I love it but Zuli refuses to get out of the car (“how ridiculous” she says). I hope to see you there.
Many greetings, my love to the dogs,
Lucy
